Abstract: OAC and IPLB have divulged the second series of studies integrated within the On Reading programme, undertaken in collaboration with Portuguese universities which have pursued localised research projects and fieldwork. As with the first series of studies, the objective is to identify young people’s reading habits in the municipalities under analysis and evaluate the role of agents and institutions involved in the reading process. The aim of the present study is to analyse young people’s reading habits in Évora and neighbouring municipalities, evaluating the actual or potential role of schools, family members, friends, teachers and instructors within the framework of the different socio-cultural contexts condictioning such habits.
