Abstract:
OAC and IPLB have agreed on the need to develop localised studies on reading
habits and operational models of public libraries, which gave rise to the On
Reading programme, now presenting its third series of results.
The main objective of this study, undertaken in the Oeiras Municipal Library,
is to analyse the reading habits of the library’s users within a wider
perspective of lifestyles and cultural habits. The study aims to identify
the dynamic relationship between reading and new information technologies,
as well as the role played by the library in the formation and
implementation of reading habits, especially of young people.
