Abstract: OAC and IPLB present the second series of studies integrated within the On Reading programme, undertaken in collaboration with Portuguese universities which have pursued localised research projects and fieldwork. As with the first series of studies, the objective is to identify young people’s reading habits in the municipalities under analysis and evaluate the role of agents and institutions involved in the reading process. The study presented herein focuses on the operating conditions and strategies adopted by the António Botto Municipal Library (in Abrantes) as a privileged space for access to reading with an important role in terms of stimulating civic participation and a more effective cultural experience for citizens.
