Abstract:
This case-study - one of the six integrated
in Cascais-Culture Programme - proposes one overview of Centro Cultural de
Cascais (CCC) through several dimensions: history and function of this
equipment; cultural programming; pedagogic and arts sensibility-oriented
activities; mobilized audiences; CCC as a space for musical seasons and
events as well as an exhibition centre (to consecrated, new and amateur
artists).
Based on the results of a survey to the audiences of the different
activities promoted by CCC, this research provides an analysis of CCC’s
audiences’ profile that differentiates exhibition visitors to music
spectators. Despite of the homogenous and selective socio-graphic traits
that both audiences reveal, exhibition visitors represent a specialized
cultural demand and music spectators a more cumulative demand, more regular
in CCC as well as in other local cultural equipments.
