Abstract: Commissioned by National Reading Plan (PNL), OAC carried out a survey to the public libraries about their activities and reading promotion projects. This publication presents survey’s results complemented with a brief overview about public cultural policies on Reading promotion and Public Libraries as well as an exploitation of administrative information regarding the activity of three institutions that carried out national programmes concerning reading promotion: General Directorate for Book and Libraries (DGLB), National Reading Plan (PNL) and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
