Abstract: Participants in this Meeting included former Ministers and Secretaries of State responsible for culture in previous constitutional governments, representatives of political parties, cultural agents involved in different areas, cultural policy specialists of international organisations and cultural researchers. The Meeting had three core topics intended to foster an open debate between the aforementioned participants and spectators accompanying the sessions who were interested in discussing work experiences and ideas on the contemporary relationship between the Arts and the State. The three topics chosen were cultural policies: objectives and strategies; cultural production and diffusion: questions and expectations of the different areas; international perspectives on cultural policy. In order to launch the debate, an open question was posed: In the frame of the recent changes in the cultural and artistic fields, what new forms of more effective State intervention can we find, considering the intersection between various poles of intervention - central and local administration; public and private sector; national and international levels? |
