Abstract: This publication tries to give answers to three set of questions:
What are the social conditions that make possible, at present, the emerging and the development of young people’s ‘artistic vocations’? How do they construct their identities and lifestyles as artists, within the diversified way of life that characterize juvenile population? How do they look to their artistic activity, considering the actual possibilities for creation and reception in contemporary art?
Considering the recurrence of the student figure in the young art circle, what structural conditions could configure the centrality of school institutions in artistic career’s definition? How do those conditions reflect themselves in young artists' aspirant contexts of living? How do they appropriate the Portuguese artistic learning system, in its several stages and segments? What weaknesses and valences do they identify in that system?
Between the State - at central and local level - and the artistic field, how is their relationship structured? What interest games make move together politic and artistic worlds in the social space of young art? What kind of articulations are there between the 'young art world' and the other art worlds? How do the participation in he young art world events influence the future artistic trajectories
